Economics of sustainability

Short course description
The class will address economic concepts and empirical findings useful for the analysis of sustainable development practices in communities, cities, countries and regions. Topics include: the challenges of sustainable development, global environmental issues and earth system governance, the sustainability-wellbeing link, sustainability indicators, natural resource (green) accounting, the roles of business, government and nonprofit organizations in sustainability, economics of climate change (mitigation and adaptation), ecological economics, valuation of biodiversity and ecosystem services, sustainable business practices, the role of international finance institutions in sustainability. (Taught every other year)
